Two planes collided at Itami Airport in Osaka: what is known

Two All Nippon Airways (ANA) planes collided on the runway at Itami Airport in Osaka, Japan. Fortunately, none of the passengers and crew on the two Bombardier DHC8-400s were injured, but the incident led to delays and flight cancellations.

The collision occurred around 10:10 am on February 2, according to Japan Today. Flight 422 from Fukuoka, carrying 69 passengers and crew, was preparing to depart the runway. At that time, its right wing collided with the wing of another aircraft of the same model, Flight 1637, which was scheduled to depart for Matsuyama with 73 people on board.

Flight 1637 eventually departed after the aircraft was replaced, but ANA had to cancel 10 flights to and from the airport due to the incident.

The cause of the collision is currently unknown, and airport authorities and ANA are conducting an investigation to determine all the circumstances of the incident.
