Turkey has become the unexpected new hotspot for luxurious, barefoot-style resorts, exemplified by the exclusive Bijal resort. Located in Side, Bijal offers a serene escape that rivals the exotic charm of the Maldives without the hefty price tag.

On the first night at Bijal, the sounds of nature—tree frogs, cicadas, and late-night birds—created an ambiance that felt more tropical than Turkish. This serene atmosphere continued the next morning as guests wandered past manicured flower beds filled with vibrant hibiscus and bougainvillaea to enjoy a quiet breakfast on the ClubHouse terrace.

Designed to mimic the effortless luxury of Indian Ocean resorts, Bijal features just 19 villas, three restaurants, two bars, and a team of attentive butlers. This intimate setting contrasts sharply with the large-scale resorts typically found in Side, offering a more personalized and tranquil experience.

Bijal isn't the first Turkish resort to emulate the Maldivian vibe. Bodrum's Lujo resort features imported Indian Ocean sand and a stunning "Lotus Pier" with over-water cabanas. Similarly, Belek's Granada Luxury resort offers over-water villas situated around a swimming pool. However, Bijal's boutique size and comprehensive luxury set a new standard.

The resort's small size ensures a peaceful environment. Guests often stay within their villas, which feature private pools, outdoor baths, and walled gardens, maintaining a serene atmosphere throughout their stay. The resort's signature butter-yellow color is a charming detail, seen in everything from room keys to beach bags.

During their stay, guests can engage in various activities, including ceramics workshops, table tennis, and beach relaxation. The resort's sense of seclusion provides a perfect retreat from the outside world.

For those interested in exploring, Bijal offers guided tours of nearby Side, a blend of ancient ruins and modern tourist attractions. The town, focused on tourism, features ancient sites like the Temple of Apollo and the remains of Ottoman houses, all free to explore. This proximity to cultural heritage sites offers a unique advantage over the Maldives.

Despite the allure of local exploration, the evenings at Bijal are hard to resist. Guests can enjoy cold beers at the ClubHouse, Turkish meze, and freshly caught sea bass at the BeachHouse while watching the sunset. The standout dining experience, however, is an exquisite sushi platter, highlighting the resort's culinary excellence.

In conclusion, Bijal exemplifies how Turkey has successfully captured the essence of Maldivian luxury, providing an idyllic and affordable alternative. This new wave of barefoot luxury, closer to home, redefines Turkey as a top destination for serene, high-end getaways.
