Vietnam Airlines has confirmed that all its Phnom Penh services will move from Phnom Penh International Airport (PNH) to the new Techo International Airport (KTI) from 00:01 on September 9 2025. It follows the directive of Cambodia's civil aviation authority, which ordered all carriers to transfer their operations to the newly built airport as the older facility closes its doors.

Located more than 20 kilometres south of central Phnom Penh, Techo International Airport is designed to meet ICAO 4F standards, allowing it to handle large, long-haul aircraft. The journey to the terminal takes about 40 minutes by car. The new airport has three runways and more modern and spacious facilities, and it's a huge step forward in Cambodia's air transport capacity.

All tickets issued before September 9 will automatically update from code PNH to KTI, while flight numbers remain the same. Vietnam Airlines has urged travellers to check their booking details carefully, arrive at least three hours before international departures, and follow the latest updates on the airline's website, mobile app, or hotline.

The move will make visiting Phnom Penh's top attractions easier for tourists. The Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda and National Museum are all within a short drive of the new airport, allowing travellers to reach Cambodia's cultural heart quickly. Beyond the capital, the new hub provides a gateway to Angkor Wat in Siem Reap and Cambodia's southern coastline, where beach resorts in Kep and Sihanoukville draw international attention.

This relocation significantly boosts Vietnam Airlines as it builds its network in Southeast Asia and settles into a modern aviation hub. Passengers will benefit by having greater accessibility to Cambodia's primary sites, in addition to improved services in place for future growth. From September, tourists will have a more comfortable and efficient way to enter the country.
