Exploring South America by rail has never been easier. Railbookers, an independent rail travel company, has announced the launch of routes on the continent, introducing 21 new itineraries, all of which are available for booking now.

While all of the journeys are centered around Peru, they cover some of the country's flagship destinations, including Machu Picchu and the Amazon rainforest, as well as the Galapagos Islands in neighboring Ecuador. Some of the journeys include segments on the Andean Explorer and Hiram Bingham trains, which are Belmond trains and are among the most luxurious trains in the world," writes Travel + Leisure.

"South America - whether it's Peru, Argentina, the Galapagos Islands, or beyond - is a once-in-a-lifetime travel destination for many of our customers, and we are pleased to offer a complete collection of independent rail travel to Peru that meets all their criteria," said Frank Marini, president and CEO of Railbookers, in a statement published on the Travel + Leisure website.

The vacations range from eight to 25 days, including departures as early as this month and through 2025. In addition to upscale rail travel, some itineraries also include overnight stays on luxury cruises in the Galapagos Islands, as well as river cruises through the Peruvian Amazon forests. Each itinerary can be customized to include all the elements you desire, including adding cruise extensions to existing voyages.

Journeys include the eight-day roundtrip "Essential Peru" from Lima, which includes stops in the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, and Cusco. There is also a 14-day "Luxury Trains Peru" itinerary that goes to Colca Canyon and Arequipa, including a trip on the Hiram Bingham and two nights on the Andean Explorer. Also available is a 25-day itinerary to 10 destinations in Peru and Ecuador, including Puno, Paracas, Quito, and the Galapagos Islands, with travel on The Titicaca Train and Nazca Lines, plus four nights on the Isabela II.

Each trip includes a personalized welcome, private transfers and excursions, and the freedom to travel at your own pace. Domestic flights and transfers are included, as is access to a 24-hour emergency line in case something goes wrong. The company has also released a brochure, "South America by Train," to help travelers better navigate the rails.
