Transavia Adds Praia and More Sal Flights
Transavia is expanding its Cape Verde programme with a new link to Praia, the country’s capital on Santiago, and more capacity to Sal. The airline says the move responds to rising demand for winter sun, with travellers looking for warm weather, culture and nature outside the main summer season. The update also gives tour operators and direct bookers more choice for the 2026-27 winter.
Cape Verde Flights: What Changes
- Airline: Transavia
- New destination: Praia, on Santiago
- Existing destination: Sal
- Booking opens: 24 June 2026
- Season: October 2026 to late March 2027
- Sal: four direct flights a week
- Praia: one weekly flight via Sal
- Peak periods: five weekly flights during Christmas and spring
Praia is being added as Transavia grows in Cape Verde rather than only returning to Sal. Santiago gives the programme a more city-and-culture angle, while Sal remains the beach-heavy island with established winter demand. The carrier says the extra flying fits its network strategy, balancing leisure demand with capacity for travel companies, holiday packages and direct customers.
Praia opens easier access to Santiago, including the capital’s markets, cultural sites and nearby Cidade Velha, the UNESCO-listed former Ribeira Grande de Santiago. Sal keeps the classic beach break in play, with Santa Maria, water sports and resort stays. Having both islands in the winter programme makes mixed holidays more realistic, especially for people who want more than one beach week.
The expansion gives Cape Verde a broader winter offer rather than relying mainly on Sal. Praia adds a practical entry point for Santiago, while extra Sal flights keep the beach option available during busy school-holiday periods. Anyone planning Christmas or spring travel should watch the 24 June sales date, as the strongest dates are unlikely to sit around online for long.
