Stagecoach East has introduced a new digital PlusBus ticket trial in Cambridge, marking a significant advancement for travelers. This trial simplifies the process and reduces the cost of bus travel, making it a welcome development for tourists.

Travelers in Cambridge can now use QR codes as part of the PlusBus scheme, which allows unlimited one-day bus travel at a discounted rate. This digital option, previously only available in paper form, enhances the ease and affordability of exploring the city and its surroundings.

This trial extends to seven other locations: Bradford, Dewsbury, Halifax, Huddersfield, Keighley, Leeds, and Wakefield. Visitors to these cities can now benefit from the same convenient and cost-effective travel option, enabling them to explore local attractions more easily.

David Boden, Business Development Director at Stagecoach East and Chairman of the CP Bus Alliance, emphasized the significance of integrating bus and rail services for travelers. He expressed optimism that this trial would improve convenience and accessibility for visitors.

Efforts are being made to ensure that clear signage is in place at local railway stations, guiding travelers smoothly through their journeys. Boden also called for greater cooperation between bus operators and railway companies to synchronize schedules, ensuring buses are readily available when trains arrive. This coordination aims to enhance the overall travel experience, making it more seamless and efficient for tourists.

The PlusBus e-ticket trial represents a step forward in digital ticketing, offering travelers a more convenient and integrated public transport experience in Cambridge and the other participating cities.
