Spirit Airlines Introduces Low-Fare Flights from Birmingham to South Florida

Starting October 10, 2024, Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM) will see the addition of new, affordable air service courtesy of Spirit Airlines. This marks the airline's inaugural presence in Alabama, offering the only nonstop flights from Birmingham to Fort Lauderdale (FLL). The new route opens up low-cost travel options to South Florida, with convenient connections to Latin America and the Caribbean.

John Kirby, Vice President of Network Planning at Spirit Airlines, expressed enthusiasm about the new service, highlighting the benefits for travelers seeking both affordability and convenience. He noted that the daily service will provide an attractive alternative to driving, enhancing accessibility to Fort Lauderdale's beaches and making it easier for Florida residents to explore Birmingham's southern hospitality.

To celebrate the launch, Spirit is offering introductory fares starting at $69 for travel between October 10 and November 19, 2024. These one-way fares require a 14-day advance purchase and are subject to availability.

Darlene Wilson, Vice-Chair of the Birmingham Airport Authority Board, welcomed the new service, noting the confidence Spirit Airlines has shown in the Birmingham market.
