TransPennine Express (TPE) has issued a strong advisory for customers to avoid traveling between the Northwest of England and Scotland on Thursday, May 23, due to significant weather disruptions. Heavy flooding on the West Coast Main Line north of Carlisle has severely impacted train services, leading to this urgent notice.

Darren Higgins, the Commercial Director at TPE, highlighted the severity of the situation, emphasizing the safety of customers and staff as the top priority. "Due to flooding on the railway line north of Carlisle, train services are significantly disrupted," he said. "We are urging customers not to travel between Manchester, Liverpool, Preston to Carlisle, Glasgow, and Edinburgh."

TPE advises customers with tickets for Thursday, May 23, to avoid traveling and seek a full refund. Alternatively, these tickets can be used up to and including Friday, May 24. The railway company has made arrangements for ticket acceptance and refunds, ensuring passengers are not left out of pocket.

Given the circumstances, the disruptions are expected to cause significant delays and cancellations. TPE's primary concern is to ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers and staff, making it crucial for travelers to adhere to the advisory and avoid unnecessary travel.

For those affected, TPE has provided a clear pathway to claim refunds through their website: www.tpexpress.co.uk/help/refunds. This proactive approach aims to mitigate the inconvenience caused by the severe weather conditions and ensure that passengers are adequately informed and compensated.

In light of these disruptions, TPE is working diligently to restore normal service as quickly as possible. Passengers are encouraged to stay updated on the latest travel information and make alternative arrangements where necessary. The railway company appreciates the patience and understanding of its customers during this challenging time.
