Next week, ScotRail will facilitate travel for golf fans attending The Open at Royal Troon, the iconic Ayrshire course. Extra trains and services will be available to accommodate the expected increase in passengers.

Starting Wednesday, 10 July, a temporary timetable was implemented, ensuring additional services to Ayrshire station on Championship days (Thursday, 18 to Sunday, 21 July) and increased capacity on existing services during Practice Days. This change aims to enhance reliability and reduce last-minute cancellations, allowing customers to plan their journeys with confidence.

To ensure smooth travel, ScotRail is deploying extra services at peak times and utilizing all available train carriages. This initiative ensures that the majority of customers can continue to travel without disruptions. Additionally, ScotRail has partnered with Stagecoach to offer a Golflink ticket, which includes return rail travel to Troon station and a shuttle bus to the Championship venue.

Queuing systems and additional ScotRail staff will be available at Troon and Glasgow Central stations to assist travelers. Customers are reminded that alcohol is prohibited on all ScotRail services to ensure a safe and pleasant journey for everyone.

Phil Campbell, ScotRail Customer Operations Director, emphasized the company's commitment to supporting fans attending The Open. "Our all-inclusive Golflink ticket is an excellent option for combining train travel with a bus link to the event, ensuring a smooth journey. Purchasing tickets in advance means less queuing and more viewing at The Open," Campbell said.
