Ryanair has launched a direct flight between Nuremberg and Rabat, creating the first non-stop connection between the Bavarian city and Morocco’s capital. The inaugural flight is scheduled for 3 April 2026, with departures twice a week on Mondays and Fridays. The new route adds another international option to Nuremberg Airport’s summer timetable and expands the selection of destinations available beyond Europe.

Flights to Morocco have been absent from Nuremberg’s regular schedule in recent years. Services to Marrakech were available until early 2020, while Agadir last had regular connections more than ten years ago. The addition of Rabat returns North Africa to the airport’s route map. In total, Ryanair will serve 21 destinations from Nuremberg this summer, with many routes focused on Spain, Italy and Greece.

Morocco has not appeared regularly in Nuremberg’s flight schedule for several years. Scheduled services to Marrakech were available until early 2020, while Agadir last had regular flights more than a decade ago. The new Rabat route reintroduces a North African destination to the airport’s network. Ryanair plans to operate 21 routes from Nuremberg this summer, with many connections focused on southern European holiday destinations.

The new direct service makes it easier to reach Rabat for trips combining cultural visits with time by the Atlantic coast. The city includes historic landmarks such as the Kasbah of the Udayas and Hassan Tower, while the Atlantic coastline close to Rabat allows time at the beach alongside visits to cultural sites. The connection also creates additional options for visiting Morocco beyond more frequently served destinations such as Marrakech.

“With the new Rabat route, we are specifically expanding our offering and responding to the potential in Nuremberg. However, the German market remains at 89 per cent of pre-crisis levels, and exorbitant government-imposed location costs continue to hamper further investment."
Marcel Pouchain Meyer, Country Manager & Head of Communications DACH

Direct flights can influence how easily destinations outside the most common tourist routes are included in travel plans. The new Rabat route adds another city to Nuremberg’s network and brings a capital known for historic landmarks as well as its position on the Atlantic coast. For those considering North Africa, the new schedule provides another option when comparing destinations available within a few hours of flight time.
