Qatar Airways Launches Daily Flights to Hamburg, Expanding German Network

Qatar Airways has officially launched its first flight to Hamburg Airport, marking the start of daily non-stop flights between Doha and Hamburg. The service, commencing today, makes Hamburg the fifth German city to join Qatar Airways' expanding network, which already includes Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, and Munich.

The new route is set to bolster economic and trade connections between northern Germany, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. Qatar Airways, recognized as the World’s Best Airline by Skytrax in 2024, experienced a 62% increase in outbound passengers from Germany in 2023.

This addition enhances Qatar Airways’ extensive network of over 170 destinations, providing greater accessibility for travelers from northern Germany. The Hamburg route is expected to stimulate the local economy, potentially boosting the city’s cargo sector by up to 11%.

Key figures, including Hamburg’s First Mayor Dr. Peter Tschentscher and Qatar Airways Chief Commercial Officer Thierry Antinori, were present to welcome the inaugural flight. Their presence underscores the significance of this new connection for both the airline and the region.

Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, CEO of Qatar Airways Group, emphasized the airline’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Germany. He highlighted Doha’s central location, which facilitates global trade and passenger connections, as a crucial factor in the airline’s strategic growth.

Hamburg, known for its historical trade links and as Germany's most important foreign trade center, will benefit significantly from this new route. The direct flights from Hamburg to Doha will not only enhance international trade but also attract tourists and investors, further establishing Hamburg as a key business and travel hub.
