Qatar Airways will expand its African network from 16 June 2026, with resumed services, higher frequencies and a new route to Port Sudan. The airline will restart four weekly flights to Seychelles and two weekly flights to Kigali on 16 June. It will also bring back daily flights to Marrakesh from 1 July as part of a wider regional increase.

The airline is also raising frequencies on several existing African routes. Alexandria will rise from three weekly flights to up to seven, while Cairo will increase from 28 to up to 35 weekly services. Cape Town will move from seven to up to 10 flights a week, adding more choice for South Africa trips through Doha.

Africa Schedule Changes

  • Dar es Salaam: from three to up to seven weekly flights;
  • Lusaka–Harare: from five to up to seven weekly flights;
  • Maputo–Durban: from four to up to seven weekly flights;
  • Port Sudan: three weekly flights from 2 July, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays;
  • Doha–Port Sudan: QR1319 departs 09:00, arrives 11:00;
  • Port Sudan–Doha: QR1320 departs 12:25, arrives 16:20.

The changes make different kinds of trips easier to plan through Doha. Seychelles puts island holidays, beaches and nature reserves back on the network, while Kigali can work for Rwanda city breaks and onward travel to national parks. Marrakesh adds access to Morocco’s medina, souks and nearby Atlas Mountain trips, and Cape Town offers beaches, vineyards, Table Mountain and coastal drives.

Frequency matters almost as much as new destinations here. More weekly flights can mean better connection times, shorter waits and easier trip planning, especially on routes where one or two missing days can make an itinerary awkward. Qatar Airways is rebuilding its network to more than 160 destinations worldwide, making Doha a stronger connection point for African and long-haul journeys.
