Holidaymakers heading to Portugal in early June are being warned of possible delays as cabin crew, rail workers and metro staff prepare for a nationwide strike. The strike follows a vote by members of the Portuguese cabin crew union to join wider national action. The National Union of Civil Aviation Flight Personnel (SNPVAC) has criticised proposed labour reforms, saying they would weaken established rights. The government’s plans include making dismissals easier and loosening restrictions on outsourcing, according to the report.

The disruption is expected to involve several transport groups:

The timing is difficult because Lisbon Airport has already faced long queues linked to the EU Entry/Exit System rollout.
