Oman Air has announced significant changes to its routes in Asia

Oman's national carrier, Oman Air, has announced the optimization of its route network in Asia. As part of these changes, the airline has canceled flights to four destinations: Islamabad, Lahore, Colombo, and Chittagong. At the same time, it added a service to Sialkot, Pakistan's third largest city.

On the Indian route, Oman Air will increase capacity in Lucknow and Thiruvananthapuram, but reduce the frequency of some other flights, Khaleej Times reports.

Oman Air also announced that three destinations will be operated on a seasonal basis: Trabzon during the summer season and Zurich and Male in winter.

These changes are dictated by the carrier's desire to improve its financial performance. Oman Air explained that shifting some routes is part of its strategy to adapt to changing market dynamics and opportunities.

The air routes between the Gulf countries and the Indian subcontinent are in high demand as members of the South Asian diaspora have jobs there.

"Oman Air has also introduced measures to optimize its schedule starting this summer. In order to better meet the needs of the Omani market and serve key flows to and from Oman, flight times to several destinations have been revised with a focus on more favorable slots," Oman Air said.
