AirAsia has announced a recent global route connecting Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, to Kaohsiung, Taiwan, starting from 17 November 2024. With multiple flights scheduled weekly, this path aims to provide travelers with greater convenience and more options for international travel from the region.

This addition marks Kaohsiung as the fifteenth overseas location from Kota Kinabalu, further expanding AirAsia's network. By December 2024, travelers will have access to a total of 105 weekly departures from the base, covering a range of locations throughout Southeast Asia and further.

For travelers, this recent connection provides more than just increased accessibility. Kaohsiung is a well-known destination for travelers, celebrated for its lively artistic atmosphere and historical attractions. The direct flight opens up a range of opportunities for exploring Taiwan’s southern region, which often goes overlooked in favor of Taipei. With Taiwan’s efficient Rapid Transit Network, visitors can quickly move between Kaohsiung and Taipei in just 1.5 hours, making it an ideal gateway for broader explorations of the island.

Additionally, the availability of budget-friendly fares on this route provides travelers with an affordable option to experience Taiwan’s diverse attractions. From modern art galleries to scenic coastal areas like Cijin Beach, travelers now have more reasons to visit this culturally rich and picturesque city.

The introduction of this route is expected to boost tourism between Malaysia and Taiwan, offering a new travel experience for both leisure and business travelers. With the added convenience of a direct connection, it significantly enhances the appeal of Taiwan as a travel destination for those flying from Malaysia.
