Scandic Hotels revealed intentions to launch a new 430-room property in Hamburg by 2030. The hotel will be built close to Berliner Tor station and Ankelmannplatz, a district experiencing extensive urban renewal. Planned features include communal facilities like a rooftop terrace, fitness center, and sky bar. This development is founded on a long-term lease arrangement with PEG and Reiss+Co, the joint owners of the site.

The hotel’s location near one of Hamburg’s key transport hubs, Berliner Tor, offers several advantages:

  • Seamless connections to local and regional rail lines
  • A central point used by both commuters and travellers
  • Inclusion in a district undergoing major urban renewal, transforming former industrial areas
  • Expansion of accommodation capacity in a high-demand neighbourhood
  • Growing appeal due to improved infrastructure and transport links

Guests will be within walking distance of several engaging sites perfect for exploration. Visitors can stroll along the Magdeburger Hafen, a lively waterfront area with modern bars and restaurants overlooking the canal. Nearby in the St. Pauli district, Spielbudenplatz features a vibrant blend of street acts, outdoor markets, and distinctive restaurants. Outdoor lovers can enjoy the spacious greenery and charming walking paths of Wallanlagen Park, situated centrally in the city.

Additionally, the hotel is close to diverse cultural and recreational venues. A quick public transport trip takes visitors to the Alster Lakes, known for boating and calm waterfront spots. Travelers can visit the Isemarkt, a twice-weekly market known as Europe’s longest outdoor market, offering fresh local foods and crafts. Planten un Blomen Park offers visitors well-kept botanical gardens, regular water and light shows, and tranquil walking trails, making it a calm escape within the city.
