New Flight to Salerno Expands Travel Options from Genoa
Aeroitalia is getting ready to launch a new domestic flight linking Genoa with Salerno Costa d’Amalfi Airport, with the first flights planned for May 24, 2026. The service will depart from Genoa’s Cristoforo Colombo Airport and aims to improve connections between northern and southern Italy. The new route is part of the airline’s plan to grow its domestic network and make travel between Liguria and southern coastal regions more straightforward.
Key details of the new route include:
- Launch date: May 24, 2026
- Route: Genoa to Salerno Costa d’Amalfi Airport
- Frequency: Twice weekly
- Departure days: Thursdays and Sundays
- Aircraft: Embraer 190 with around 100 seats
- Starting fares: From €39.99
The new service also strengthens Aeroitalia’s position in Genoa, where the airline already has a base and continues to expand its domestic routes step by step.
“We are particularly proud to announce the new connection between Genoa and Salerno Costa d’Amalfi Airport and the Cilento area. With this route, Aeroitalia confirms its mission to offer efficient and high quality mobility solutions, creating new opportunities both for tourism and for the economic fabric of the regions served. We believe that strengthening these connections is essential to foster development and enhance the respective Italian excellences, promoting accessible and comfortable travel for all passengers."
Coastal Escapes Within Reach
One of the biggest benefits of the new flight is easier access to the Amalfi Coast, one of the most famous coastal areas in Italy. A direct flight to Salerno brings travelers much nearer to famous coastal towns known for dramatic cliffs, colorful houses, and classic Mediterranean scenery. Compared to longer journeys with connections, this direct option could make quick summer trips to the coast much more appealing.
The new route also makes it simpler to get to the Cilento region, which many travelers see as a calmer option compared to more crowded tourist spots. Cilento is famous for its long sandy beaches, historic villages, and landscapes where the coastline blends into gentle countryside. With a direct flight from Genoa, travelers in northern Italy can reach these quieter places more easily without planning complex trips.
The new connection reflects a wider shift toward more direct domestic travel within Italy. The launch highlights the growing role of regional flights and hints that smaller airports may have a stronger influence on how people plan trips in the future. The launch shows how regional routes are becoming more important and suggests that smaller airports could play a bigger role in shaping future travel plans.
