New Direct Flight from Birmingham Unlocks Cultural and Natural Wonders of Greek Island Samos
Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have revealed a new direct summer route from Birmingham Airport to the Greek island of Samos, starting on 4 May 2026. The service will run once weekly on Mondays until 26 October, becoming the third UK airport to provide direct flights to Samos alongside Manchester and London Stansted. This addition brings almost 10,000 extra seats for the summer season.
Samos joins Jet2’s expanded Greek network, which now includes fifteen destinations for Summer 2026. Known for its unspoiled nature, traditional villages and archaeological sites, the island offers a quieter alternative to Greece’s more commercialised locations. The new Birmingham service strengthens travel connections for holidaymakers in the Midlands and makes the island more accessible to those seeking unique cultural and natural experiences.
We are very pleased to be expanding our operation to Samos just a month after launching it and giving even more customers to chance to reach this idyllic island next summer. One of the main attractions now more accessible due to this new route is the ancient Heraion of Samos, a significant sanctuary dedicated to the goddess Hera and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Just a short distance away, visitors can explore the Eupalinian Aqueduct, an ancient engineering marvel carved through a mountain in the 6th century BCE. In the harbor town of Pythagoreion, travelers can enjoy neoclassical architecture, a lively café scene, and the local Archaeological Museum.
Nature enthusiasts will find much to enjoy on the island. Close to Karlovasi, the Potami Waterfalls offer a wooded hike that ends at natural pools and a secluded chapel. On Samos’s northern shore, Tsamadou and Lemonakia offer a peaceful escape, with calm seas and vivid, turquoise-blue waters. Tucked among pine forests and vineyards, the mountain village of Manolates offers sweeping views, artisan shops, and tavernas where local Samos wine is always on the table.
