Mumbai restaurant gets into scandal over cocktail with ants
A restaurant in Mumbai has caused controversy with its cocktail decorated with ants called The Antz.
The unique drink with mezcal, tequila blanco, grapefruit, vetiver, brine and black ants was demonstrated on Instagram by bartender and content creator Nitin Tewari.
While Tewari praised the drink's flavour and crunchy texture, many social media users were unimpressed.
"A cocktail (with ants) as a side dish at Seefah. Will you try this cocktail? Tag all the cocktail lovers in the comments below," Tewari captioned the video.
The use of live insects as a side dish sparked heated debate among netizens.
One person asked if the ants were fried or raw, while another expressed disapproval, stating, "I'm not promoting this, I don't like nonsense."
Another commenter complained about the needless killing of life just for decoration.
