Starting in May 2025, Bremen Airport will offer more flights to the Greek islands of Crete and Rhodes as part of an expanded summer schedule. Sundair has introduced regular flights to both destinations, while Aegean Airlines will launch its Crete route on May 25, with further departures scheduled for the coming months. The expanded network reflects growing seasonal demand for Mediterranean travel among passengers from northern Germany.

Currently, flights to Rhodes are scheduled every Wednesday and Sunday, while Crete is served on Thursdays and Saturdays. Beginning May 25, Aegean Airlines will offer a Sunday service to Crete, adding Friday flights in early June and expanding further to include Wednesdays by July. The new flight schedule will offer seven weekly connections to the Greek islands, with departures continuing through October, providing travelers with ample options for summer and early autumn vacations.

Thanks to Sundair and Aegean Airlines, there will be seven flights every week from the Weser to the Aegean Sea until October.

Thanks to these expanded routes, travelers can more easily reach well-known destinations like Heraklion, Crete’s vibrant capital. From there, visitors have access to the historic Palace of Knossos, one of Europe’s most important archaeological sites, or the Samaria Gorge, a dramatic 16-kilometer hiking trail through mountainous terrain. Elafonissi Beach, with its unique pink sands, and Vai Beach, lined with palm trees, provide a perfect mix of tranquility and the chance to explore nature.

Rhodes offers a unique blend of historical charm and seaside leisure. With the new flight options, tourists can explore the medieval Old Town of Rhodes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site filled with cobbled streets and ancient fortifications. The Acropolis of Lindos, located on a cliff with sweeping sea views, is an essential stop, combining spectacular panoramas with historical importance. Those looking for quieter experiences will find inland villages and forested hiking paths across the island’s interior.

These flight expansions reflect how regional airports are adjusting to shifting travel preferences. With Bremen's improved international connections, travelers can now avoid the need for stopovers at larger hubs. For travelers, this means more efficient planning, fewer stopovers, and better access to destinations that combine cultural heritage with nature. The updated routes support varied travel styles and make southern Europe more reachable from northern Germany.
