IHG Hotels & Resorts is bringing its voco brand into Canada for the first time, with plans to open hotels in three well-known cities: Montreal, Toronto, and Niagara Falls. These properties are expected to open between 2026 and 2027. This move marks the first time the voco name will appear in the Canadian market and follows a series of recent signings by the brand in other international locations.

The three Canadian projects will differ in format and location but follow a consistent development timeline:

  • Montreal: A newly constructed 55-room hotel will be situated near the city center and the Montreal Convention Center.
  • Toronto: The airport-area site will include 180 rooms along with meeting facilities and a fitness center.
  • Niagara Falls: An existing building in the central tourist district will be converted into a 232-room hotel with two connected towers.

The planned voco Montreal hotel will be within walking distance of La Grande Roue de Montréal, a prominent riverside observation wheel open year-round. Also nearby is Place Jacques-Cartier, a wide pedestrian square where public performances and small-scale outdoor markets frequently take place. Both locations are situated in the Old Montreal district and are easily accessible without requiring local transport or guided tours.

In Niagara Falls, the upcoming hotel site lies close to Clifton Hill, a well-known city street that links open-air attractions, food venues, and lookout points along the river’s edge. Another nearby feature is the Niagara SkyWheel, which provides elevated views of the falls and surrounding district. These two locations are within the city’s core tourism zone and can be reached on foot from the planned voco hotel.

According to IHG, voco hotels operate using a flexible development model, allowing both new construction and conversion of existing buildings. The brand has surpassed 100 operational properties worldwide and continues to expand. The three Canadian openings in Montreal, Toronto, and Niagara Falls represent part of that broader growth across urban destinations in North America and beyond.
