On May 19, 2025, the Radisson Hotel Manchester City Centre opened as the first Radisson hotel in Manchester and the first in the UK to earn Verified Net Zero status. It’s among the first to hit the 2040 environmental targets set out in the hotel industry’s Net Zero guidelines. It is located beside Manchester Victoria Station and within close proximity to AO Arena.

The hotel offers 252 rooms and suites designed with Scandinavian influences, incorporating neutral colors and natural materials. Available on-site are a restaurant, bar, outdoor terrace, spa, heated indoor pool, sauna, steam room, gym, and event facilities accommodating as many as 220 people. The layout is intended to accommodate leisure travelers, business visitors, families, and groups.

From the hotel, travelers can easily reach some of Manchester’s most iconic sites on foot. The centuries-old Manchester Cathedral is within easy walking distance. Located just as close is Chetham’s Library, the oldest public library still in existence in the English-speaking world, which appeals to history enthusiasts. These locations provide cultural depth for travelers seeking more than just entertainment.

The surrounding area also includes modern attractions such as the Corn Exchange, which blends historic architecture with a wide range of global dining options. Visitors looking to shop can find both luxury and everyday brands at nearby centers such as Selfridges and the Arndale. Being within walking distance of major destinations helps reduce the need for transport, which fits the hotel’s sustainability goals and benefits those staying only a short while.

The launch of a Verified Net Zero hotel in a major UK city represents a shift in urban travel. For environmentally aware visitors, it offers a realistic opportunity to reduce their carbon footprint while accessing central attractions without compromise. As the tourism industry responds to climate concerns, more travelers are looking for sustainable options, and cities are starting to offer infrastructure that meets those expectations.
