London Gets a New Thames-Side Stay
IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed Canary Riverside Plaza, Vignette Collection by IHG, marking the brand’s first London property. The hotel, developed with Yianis Group, will also be IHG’s first site in Canary Wharf. It is due to become the second Vignette Collection hotel in the UK and Ireland, as the group adds more converted luxury properties to its portfolio.
The hotel is scheduled to open in summer 2026 with 142 guestrooms and suites overlooking the River Thames and the City. Plans include a restaurant and bar, meeting and event space for up to 200 guests, and access to a nearby health club and spa. Its location places it in Canary Wharf, one of London’s main financial and professional services districts.
Vignette Collection launched in 2021 and focuses on existing hotels that keep their own name and style after joining IHG. The brand now has 34 hotels open worldwide and 45 more in development. In Europe, it has six open hotels and 17 in the pipeline, including projects in Germany and Italy. IHG said conversions accounted for all UK and Ireland signings in the first quarter of 2026.
The opening will give visitors another high-end option in east London, close to the Thames, Canary Wharf’s restaurants, riverside paths and transport links. It may suit business trips, weekend stays and guests who want London access without staying in the West End. Greenwich, the O2, Tower Bridge and central London are all reachable by public transport.
The signing reflects how London’s hotel map is spreading beyond the usual tourist areas. Canary Wharf has become more than a weekday office district, with dining, events, river views and fast transport connections. The new hotel will give guests another base in the capital, especially those combining business, riverside stays and east London plans.
