Ljubljana Airport has opened its summer 2026 charter season, with the first departures taking holidaymakers to Santorini and Crete. The launch marks the busiest part of the airport’s leisure travel calendar, as Slovenian tour operators begin sending travellers to popular Mediterranean destinations. Greece remains one of the strongest charter choices for Slovenian holidaymakers this year.

More charter flights will follow during the summer, covering Turkey, Egypt, Tunisia, Montenegro and Spain. Tour operators will also offer selected European and Mediterranean departures later in the year. The flights are being run by Trade Air, Aegean Airlines, Sky Vision, Nile Air, Air Mediterranean, Nouvelair and Freebird, working with agencies including Palma, Relax, Intelekta, ETI and Oasis.

Charter traffic remains an important part of Ljubljana Airport’s seasonal offer, sitting alongside regular scheduled services. The airport expects around 130,000 charter passengers by the end of the year. Passenger numbers are also rising more widely, with more than 437,200 travellers handled since January, up 16.9% year on year. April alone brought over 143,700 passengers.

Where the Summer Flights Help

The charter programme gives Slovenian travellers easier access to organised beach and resort holidays, especially across:

  • Greek islands such as Santorini and Crete
  • Turkish coastal resorts
  • Egypt and Tunisia holiday areas
  • Montenegro’s Adriatic coast
  • Spanish summer destinations

The airport’s wider summer schedule is also growing, with 24 airlines offering 30 direct routes. easyJet added Edinburgh in April, while Wizz Air is due to launch Podgorica in early June. For holidaymakers, the main value is choice: more direct seasonal flights, fewer complicated transfers and a stronger mix of city, coast and package-holiday options.
