KLM will start a seasonal winter service connecting Amsterdam Schiphol to Kittilä Airport for the 2025-2026 travel season. The flights will operate once a week on Sundays from 23 November 2025 until 22 March 2026 using a Boeing 737-800 aircraft. At the same time, the airline will expand its Amsterdam-Rovaniemi schedule, increasing services from three to four per week for the duration of the winter timetable.

The direct connection to Kittilä will give travellers access to Finnish Lapland without the need for domestic transfers through other Finnish airports. Rovaniemi will now see flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, giving travellers greater flexibility to arrange anything from quick weekend breaks to longer winter holidays. Both routes are expected to attract visitors interested in nature, outdoor sports, and Arctic culture during the peak season.

We are pleased with KLM’s decision to strengthen its connections to Lapland. The new route and the increased frequencies on existing ones support regional tourism and offer international travellers even better opportunities to experience Finland’s unique winter.
Petri Vuori, Senior Vice President of Sales and Route Development at Finavia

Travellers arriving in Kittilä often use it as a starting point for visiting Levi, one of Finland’s largest ski resorts, located less than 20 kilometres away. Levi offers a variety of ski runs, cross-country trails and snowboarding areas suited to all skill levels. Within about an hour’s drive is the Lainio Snow Village, a seasonal attraction built entirely from ice and snow. Inside, guests can admire detailed ice sculptures, walk through softly lit corridors and explore themed rooms that change design each winter.

In Rovaniemi, travellers can literally stand on the Arctic Circle and explore a city known across the globe as Santa Claus’s official hometown. At Santa Claus Village, they will find postal services, souvenir shops and festive displays open year-round. Another highlight is the Arktikum Museum and Science Centre, which presents exhibitions on the region’s natural environment, Sámi heritage and Arctic exploration, making it an important stop for those interested in local history and culture.

With the launch of the Kittilä service and the additional Rovaniemi flights, KLM’s winter schedule will link Amsterdam to two of Lapland’s main travel hubs. These routes provide more straightforward access to northern Finland’s winter destinations, giving travellers the opportunity to combine outdoor activities with cultural exploration in one trip and to experience the varied landscapes and traditions of the Arctic region.
