This spring, Lisbon will host the IndieLisboa International Film Festival, an annual celebration of independent and auteur cinema. Scheduled from May 23 to June 2, the festival will feature films from around the world, drawing cinephiles and industry professionals to Portugal’s capital.

IndieLisboa, founded in 2004, has become a key event for showcasing innovative and independent films. The festival is known for its diverse selection, highlighting emerging filmmakers and unique cinematic voices.

This year’s lineup includes a variety of sections: the International film competitions, the National Competition for Portuguese films, the Silvestre section for experimental works, and Mouth of Madness for genre films like horror and sci-fi. Each section aims to present fresh and daring perspectives in cinema.

The festival also presents several awards, including Best Feature Film, Best Short Film, and the Audience Award. These accolades recognize outstanding achievements and encourage further innovation in filmmaking.

Visitors to IndieLisboa can also explore Lisbon’s rich cultural landscape, enjoying the city's historic sites, nightlife, and cuisine. The festival provides a unique way to experience both independent cinema and the charm of Lisboa.

As IndieLisboa approaches, anticipation grows among film enthusiasts and professionals. The festival continues to be a significant platform for independent cinema, celebrating creativity and new talents in the film industry.
