The tourism industry in Cuba is experiencing a significant revival. Last year, the island received about 3.5 million tourists.

However, to further develop tourism, the government decided that the regional airline Aerogaviota would resume flights to different countries and the Caribbean. However, the airline was forced to suspend its operations at the end of November 2022 due to a lack of fuel, according to an article on The Weston Forum.

In view of this, the Indian hotel group MGM Muthu, which has a hotel fund on the island, is creating an airline in Cuba for domestic transportation. The plane and its crew reportedly flew from Europe.

Moreover, the name of the new airline has already been determined: Muthu Aviation. The airline was established to offer domestic flights.

Muthu Aviation plans to operate an ATR-72 aircraft based in Havana to quickly connect leading tourist centers with the capital. Flights are to start as soon as all procedures with local authorities are completed.

At the same time, Muthu Aviation will also have some unique features. After all, its aircraft must be registered in Europe to build trust among foreign tourists, and the flight attendants must also be from Europe.

What is known about the MGM Muthu group

It is noted that the trips will not be available exclusively to guests of MGM Muthu hotels but will be sold through online booking portals and travel agencies.

MGM Muthu hotels are no strangers to Cuba. The company owns 14 tourist properties with almost 7,000 rooms, including two luxury hotels in Santa Clara and Havana.
