Incident on Flight from Chicago to Hawaii: Body Found in Aircraft’s Undercarriage

Passengers on a Christmas Eve journey from Chicago to Kahului Airport in Maui were unaware of an unexpected stowaway. A deceased individual was located in the undercarriage of a Boeing 787-10 operated by United Airlines. The circumstances surrounding how and when the person accessed this restricted area remain unclear.

The plane, which had a 4.5-hour stopover in Chicago, reached Maui on schedule. During the flight, a body was discovered in the aircraft’s undercarriage—a location accessible exclusively from outside the plane. Interestingly, the aircraft had previously flown from São Paulo, Brazil, raising speculation about how long the individual may have been hiding there.

Such occurrences are relatively rare, but survival chances are extremely low.
