Iberia will introduce a new daily service between Madrid and Newark Liberty International Airport starting on March 29, 2026, coinciding with the launch of the summer season. The route joins the airline’s two existing daily flights to John F. Kennedy International Airport, giving Madrid three direct options for reaching the New York area. Newark offers another entry point to the city with straightforward access to Manhattan and adds flexibility for people planning trips across one of Iberia’s busiest long-haul markets.

The airline expects a clear rise in capacity on the Madrid–New York route next summer, with over 350,000 seats planned - about 42% more than in 2025. Adding Newark gives people another option for reaching the New York area and helps Iberia manage steady demand between Spain and the United States. It also supports the airline’s wider plans to grow its presence in key US cities.

Here is a timetable:

Madrid → Newark (IB327)

  • Daily service
  • Departure: 19:35
  • Arrival: 22:25

Newark → Madrid (IB328)

  • Daily service
  • Departure: 23:55
  • Arrival: 13:20 (+1 day)
“The addition of Newark not only strengthens our presence in New York with a third daily frequency but also expands options for our customers by offering greater flexibility in schedules and fares, along with the advantages of multi-frequency service."
María Jesús López Solás, Iberia’s Chief Commercial, Network Development and Alliances Officer

The Madrid–Newark flights will be operated by the Airbus A321XLR, a single-aisle aircraft designed for long-haul routes and already central to Iberia’s transatlantic strategy. The model offers lower fuel consumption compared with older wide-body aircraft, while still providing a two-class cabin and long-range capability. Iberia notes that the addition of Newark also supports its wider North American schedule, which includes year-round services to cities such as Miami, Chicago, Boston, Washington, Dallas, and Los Angeles.

With Newark added to the map, travellers gain easier access to several well-known spots across New Jersey and New York State, including Hoboken, Jersey City, Liberty State Park, and the wider region around the Hudson waterfront. The route also suits those connecting to domestic US services from Newark, which is a major hub with established links to cities across the East Coast and Midwest. For leisure trips, the extra option makes it simpler to plan routes that match personal preferences for arrival airports and local transport.

The new service illustrates Iberia’s intention to expand long-haul connectivity while keeping key transatlantic routes easy to reach. For passengers, having a third daily option to the New York area reduces pressure on peak-season flights and provides another practical way of arranging travel between Spain and the US. As the airline continues to develop its Flight Plan 2030 strategy, next summer’s schedule offers a clear sign of how Madrid’s links with North America are set to grow.
