Hilton Opens 45-Room Madrid Hotel Near Puerta del Sol
Hilton has opened a 45-room hotel on central Madrid’s pedestrian Calle de Preciados, putting guests within walking distance of Puerta del Sol and Gran Vía. Casa Verbena Madrid, announced as open on 23 October, is the first European property in Hilton’s Outset Collection. Rather than a large full-service hotel, it offers a smaller city-centre stay built around its location and local design.
Madrid-born designer Lorenzo Castillo has given the rooms patterned finishes, historic-style prints and details drawn from local traditions. Some overlook Calle de Preciados; the higher-category Preciados Rooms have terraces facing the rooftops and Royal Palace. Breakfast includes churros, tortilla and pan con tomate, while a seasonal illustrated guide called Our Madrid points guests towards nearby cafés, bars and shops beyond the usual sightseeing circuit.

Puerta del Sol and Gran Vía are about half a kilometre away, while Plaza Mayor, Mercado de San Miguel and the Royal Palace are also nearby. Hilton lists the Prado Museum within around 20 minutes of the hotel. From Madrid-Barajas Airport, Metro line 8 runs to Nuevos Ministerios, where passengers can change for central Madrid. Standard single tickets cost €1.50–€2, plus a €3 airport supplement. Callao metro station is around three minutes’ walk from the hotel. Sol station provides connections across the capital.
The hotel makes most sense for couples and city-break visitors who want a walkable base rather than extensive facilities. It does not list cots or childcare, and pets are not accepted, so families with infants may prefer somewhere else. Breakfast costs extra, and only some rooms have terraces.
