Helsinki Airport Introduces Ticket-Free Parking in Additional Zones
Finavia will extend ticketless parking at Helsinki Airport during spring 2026, introducing the system in the P3, P4 and P5 parking areas. The technology is already in use in the P1 Premium and P2 halls. The change is part of ongoing updates to airport ground services, aimed at simplifying arrival and departure procedures without requiring drivers to take or keep a paper ticket.
The system uses automatic number plate recognition at the entrance and exit. Cameras read the vehicle’s registration number, so no paper ticket is needed. Payment is made by entering the registration number at a machine or at the exit after the trip. Once payment is completed, the barrier opens, allowing drivers to leave the parking area without using a ticket.

Cash payments remain available at the airport information desk on the first floor of the terminal building. Drivers are advised to ensure number plates are clearly visible, without dirt or snow that could affect camera recognition. Paper receipts will no longer be printed in the new parking areas, but digital copies can be downloaded via QR code or accessed online for up to seven days after payment.
Easier parking can support both short city breaks and longer trips, particularly for those arriving at the airport by car before flying. Helsinki Airport links Northern Europe with many destinations in Asia, and quicker access to parking can reduce time needed before departure, which can be useful during the busy spring travel period.
The system removes the need for a paper ticket, so drivers no longer need to keep or present one when leaving the car park. Booking a parking space earlier improves availability and may avoid higher prices closer to the travel date. The revised process also shortens the route from the car park to the airport.
