Slovak Lines has opened a direct coach service connecting Győr in Hungary with M. R. Štefánik Airport and Bratislava’s Nivy bus station. The link gives residents of Győr and the surrounding region their first direct public transport connection to the Slovak airport. It also provides an easier cross-border option for Slovak visitors travelling to the Hungarian city for a day trip or short break.

How the New Airport Bus Works

  • Route: Győr–Bratislava Airport–Nivy bus station
  • Operator: Slovak Lines
  • Started: 13 July 2026
  • Service: Daily, including weekends
  • Frequency: Five departures in each direction
  • Journey: Győr to Bratislava Airport in 60 minutes, without intermediate stops
  • Online fares: Adults from €8.90; children €1
  • Driver fares: Adults €15 or HUF 5,800; children €5 or HUF 2,000
  • Included: Reserved seat and luggage
  • Tickets: Website, mobile app or driver
  • Onboard payment: Cash or card; Hungarian forints accepted in Hungary

In Győr, coaches depart from stand 2 at the city’s central bus station. At Bratislava Airport, the stop is directly outside the terminal, while passengers continuing into the city remain onboard for Nivy bus station, reaching in about 75 minutes. A phone QR code is accepted instead of a printed ticket. Online bookings can be cancelled without a fee until 15 minutes before departure.

The connection makes Bratislava Airport’s expanded summer network more accessible to people living around Győr, including services to Barcelona, Athens, Naples, Málaga and Corfu. In the opposite direction, visitors from Slovakia gain a straightforward way to reach Győr’s historic centre, thermal baths and zoo, described as one of Central Europe’s largest, without changing trains or arranging a car for the journey.

The route gives travellers another airport choice in a region where crossing a national border is often part of an ordinary journey. Its value rests less on distance than on removing transfers, particularly for families carrying luggage or passengers catching early flights. Tickets should still be booked around flight times, with enough allowance for airport procedures and possible road delays before departure.
