Glasgow Lands a Direct Tromsø Winter Route
Norwegian will launch a direct winter service between Glasgow and Tromsø, opening a new Arctic route for Scottish passengers. The flights start in December and are timed for long weekends as well as longer winter breaks. The route also gives Northern Norway a direct link with Scotland, which should help visitors combine Glasgow, the Highlands and wider touring plans.

The route should make Tromsø easier for people across Glasgow, Edinburgh, the Central Belt and western Scotland who currently need a connection. Visitors can plan around aurora tours, fjords, the Arctic Cathedral, Polaria, the Polar Museum and boat trips without losing extra time changing planes. The same service also gives Norwegians a cleaner route into Scotland for music, culture and Highland trips.
The useful check is timing, not only price. Friday departures work well for weekend breaks, but winter activities in Tromsø often depend on weather and tour availability, so booking flights, hotels and excursions together matters. Anyone chasing the Northern Lights should leave room for more than one evening outside the city. One night is optimism; three nights is a plan.
