Florø, the westernmost town in Norway, will gain a new hotel brand on December 1 2025 when Comfort Hotel Victoria reopens as Scandic Victoria Florø. Surrounded by fjords and dotted with small islands, Florø is well known for its maritime climate and proximity to unspoiled nature. The rebranding is part of Scandic Hotels Group’s franchise strategy and the local Helle family will continue to manage the hotel under a long term agreement. The property will be the nineteenth franchise in Scandic’s portfolio and the first in this part of the country.

The destination, which has mostly depended on independent accommodations, will soon offer visitors a more standardized lodging option. Scandic Victoria Florø will feature:

  • Ninety seven rooms designed for both short and extended stays
  • Meeting facilities for up to one hundred fifty guests
  • Simplified booking options with consistent Nordic hospitality standards

This addition reflects a broader effort to improve travel infrastructure in smaller Norwegian towns that attract growing tourism interest.

Visitors staying in Florø will find several attractions within easy reach of the hotel. The Brandsøyåsen viewpoint is a popular short hike with panoramic views over the town and nearby fjords. Among Norway’s largest petroglyph collections, the Ausevika carvings shed light on the lives of people who lived in the area long ago. Visitors can stroll along the Fugleskjærskaia ferry terminal to observe daily life at the coastal harbor and catch ferries to nearby islands.

A little farther from the town center are additional sites that appeal to nature enthusiasts. The island of Svanøy is accessible by ferry and known for its green landscapes and historic manor grounds. The dramatic Kinnaklova sea cliff rises from the ocean and is a landmark for boating trips around the archipelago. Local operators also run island boat tours that explore the channels and wildlife of the Florø basin offering a closer look at western Norway’s rugged coastline.

The arrival of Scandic Victoria Florø is meaningful for anyone planning to stay in this remote coastal region. With upgraded facilities and a recognizable brand the hotel makes Florø a practical base for hikes, island visits and small business gatherings. For international visitors and Nordic tourists alike the combination of standardized lodging and easy access to outdoor experiences enhances the overall travel appeal of Norway’s westernmost city.
