Finnair has set out major plans for summer 2026, confirming the launch of 12 new international routes from airports across Finland. The airline says the additions reflect growing demand across Europe and beyond, while also reinforcing Helsinki’s role as a hub. Alongside these summer changes, Finnair will bring back three winter routes linking Central Europe with Finnish Lapland, offering a clearer timetable for the busiest cold-season months.

The airline has already widened its network throughout 2025. New routes launched earlier in the year include:

From Helsinki to:

  • Alta
  • Catania
  • Florence
  • Valencia
  • Kos

Most recent additions:

  • Kuressaare
  • Luxembourg
  • Stavanger
  • Thessaloniki
  • Tirana
  • Turin
  • Umeå

Together, these earlier expansions strengthen regional access and create steady links with destinations that continue to show growing interest in Finland.

“We are delighted about Finnair’s new openings to Europe! Finnair is an important airline partner for us, and its new routes further strengthen Finland’s accessibility."
Petri Vuori, Senior Vice President, Route Development at Finavia

Finnair’s upcoming winter programme for 2026 includes the return of three direct routes to Lapland. Twice-weekly flights from Brussels and Zurich will serve Kittilä, while the Paris–Rovaniemi route will also run twice weekly. These services will sit alongside Finnair’s existing daily flights between Helsinki and Lapland, giving visitors more predictable options during the peak northern lights and winter tourism period.

With the wider network in place, people planning trips next year gain easier access to a long list of cities that previously required awkward connections or longer detours. The new links open direct paths to southern Europe’s summer spots, northern capitals, and smaller destinations that are usually harder to reach. The revived winter flights also give visitors clearer ways to experience Lapland’s nature, northern lights, skiing areas, and winter events without relying on indirect routes.

Taken together, the plans show Finnair steering its 2026 growth towards routes where demand has been strongest while keeping Helsinki at the centre of long-haul and regional links. The added European destinations broaden travel options for summer, and the renewed Lapland flights make winter journeys less complicated. For passengers planning trips next year, the schedule brings a more straightforward path to both warm-weather city escapes and Lapland’s seasonal highlights.
