Starting on March 1, 2026, Emirates will add a third daily flight between Dubai and Nairobi. This will bring the total number of weekly flights on the route to 21. This expansion comes after Emirates has been operating in Kenya for 30 years and is meant to improve connections with its global network. The extra frequency should make it easier to travel between Nairobi and major international markets, which will help Kenya's economic and tourism goals while also meeting the needs of more business and leisure travelers.

The new service will operate on a Boeing 777 with three travel classes: First, Business, and Economy. The schedule of the three daily flights is:

  • EK717: Departs Dubai 00:55, arrives Nairobi 05:05
  • EK718: Departs Nairobi 06:50, arrives Dubai 12:50
  • Third flight: Early morning departure from Dubai, return shortly after sunrise

This arrangement aims to improve connections with Europe and the U.S., making onward travel more efficient for international passengers.

The extra flight is needed because there is so much demand for flights between Dubai and Nairobi. It also increases the number of passengers and cargo that can be carried. The Boeing 777 can carry about 280 more tonnes of cargo in its belly every week. This makes it easier to move things like fruits, vegetables, and flowers that need to be kept fresh. Working with Kenya Airways makes it easy to travel to other places in the region, like Rwanda, Tanzania (Kilimanjaro), Mozambique, and Burundi. The longer schedule is meant to help both trade and tourism in a way that works well.

The route improves access to Nairobi's main attractions. Nairobi National Park, located just outside the city, allows visitors to see lions, rhinos, and other wildlife against the backdrop of the urban landscape. The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust offers the opportunity to observe the rehabilitation of orphaned elephants and rhinos. Together, these sites offer unique wildlife experiences in close proximity to Nairobi, making it easier for travelers to combine city visits with early-morning safaris or guided tours in surrounding natural reserves.

The new flights also make it easier to get to other attractions, such as the Karen Blixen Museum, which tells the story of Kenya's colonial history through the life of the author, and the Giraffe Centre, where visitors can feed giraffes and learn about conservation. The new flight gives travelers more options for planning their trips, improves transport links to Nairobi, and gives tourists more opportunities to explore regional and international destinations. This shows that Nairobi is becoming an increasingly important transport hub in East Africa.
