Eclipse Breaks Shuts Down: What Happens to Your Booking?
Glasgow-based coach holiday operator Eclipse Breaks has stopped trading after 13 years, with tours no longer departing from 5 October 2026. The company blamed rising operating costs and pressure on consumer spending. A winding-up petition has been filed at Glasgow Sheriff Court, while customers with protected bookings are being contacted with details of the financial-failure cover available to them.
If You Have an Eclipse Breaks Booking
- Check your email and post for instructions sent about your booking.
- If your trip will not be provided, submit a claim through TMU Management.
- Keep booking confirmations, invoices and payment records.
- Claims are assessed individually and are not automatically approved.
- Credit-card payments over £100 may qualify for Section 75 protection; debit-card payments may be eligible for chargeback.
- Tours have not departed since 5 October.
Eclipse Breaks said continuing to operate was no longer financially sustainable. The company has asked Glasgow Sheriff Court to wind up the business and appoint a liquidator. That appointment had not yet been confirmed when the closure was announced. Once appointed, the liquidator is expected to contact suppliers and other creditors, while customer claims relating to protected bookings are handled separately through the financial-failure insurance process.
Protected customer money is covered by Financial Failure Insurance administered by TMU Management Limited and underwritten by Accelerant Insurance Europe SA/NV UK Branch. TMU’s Eclipse Breaks claims page is already live for customers who paid for travel services they will not receive because of the insolvency. Submitting a claim starts the assessment process but does not guarantee that payment will be approved.
Anyone with a future booking should first check whether it is covered by the Financial Failure Insurance and submit the required claim if the trip will no longer operate. Keep all documents until the claim is settled. If the trip is coming up soon, you may need to make new travel arrangements before any claim is paid. If the insurance does not cover the booking, your card provider may be another option.
