easyJet has begun operating flights and package holidays on a new route linking Birmingham Airport with Rome. The first service departed today, adding another direct option between the Midlands and Italy’s capital. The route arrives just before the Easter travel period and the busy summer season, giving residents in central England an additional way to reach one of Europe’s most visited cities.

Flights are scheduled four times a week, offering several departure options across the week. The airline said seats are already on sale through its website and mobile app, with entry fares starting at £22.99.

The service supports both short city breaks and longer stays, while also serving business travellers moving between the UK and Italy.

easyJet also confirmed that its Birmingham base will grow this summer with the arrival of an additional Airbus A320 family aircraft. The sixth aircraft will allow the airline to increase capacity and offer a wider range of routes and holiday packages. easyJet holidays has also introduced several Rome city break options, combining flights and accommodation with flexible booking conditions and price guarantees.

Rome remains one of Europe’s best-known cultural capitals, with landmarks such as the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and St Peter’s Basilica continuing to draw visitors year-round. The new route also makes the journey simpler, avoiding the need to change planes along the way. A stay in Rome can also be paired with trips to Tivoli, the Lazio countryside or small coastal towns along the Tyrrhenian Sea.

“We are delighted to celebrate the launch of our new service from Birmingham to Rome, giving our customers in the Midlands convenient connectivity to Italy’s capital at great value fares."
Kevin Doyle, easyJet’s UK Country Manager

The launch reflects continued demand for direct European routes from regional UK airports. A connection like Birmingham–Rome shortens travel time and broadens the choice of departure points outside London. With regular weekly flights already scheduled, the route may become a steady option for holidays, short breaks and cultural trips between the Midlands and Italy throughout the year.
