Beginning October 27, 2025, Wizz Air will run scheduled flights linking Turku, Finland, with Bucharest, Romania. Flights will be available twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays, using Airbus A321neo aircraft that seat 239 passengers. This addition reinforces Turku Airport’s position in providing broader European connections while the airline strengthens its footprint in the Romanian market.

Finavia has underlined that the new link will improve access between southwestern Finland and Central and Eastern Europe. Passengers from Turku will no longer need to transfer through larger hubs to reach Romania’s capital. The new route is expected to support both tourism and business trips, allowing residents of the Turku region to reach one of Europe’s vibrant capitals directly.

We are pleased about this new opening at Turku Airport! The new route further enhances connections between Turku and surrounding areas to Europe, supporting both tourism and business in the region.
Petri Vuori, Director of Route Development at Finavia

For visitors heading to Bucharest, the new flights provide access to some of the city’s most well-known landmarks and public spaces. Travelers can visit the Palace of the Parliament, one of the largest administrative buildings in the world, walk along the historic Calea Victoriei boulevard, or enjoy the expansive green space of Herastrau Park surrounding a northern city lake. Visitors to these sites can experience Bucharest’s urban vibe and cultural character outside traditional museums.

Romanian visitors heading to Finland now have a simpler, more direct way to get there. When arriving in Turku, travelers can visit the medieval Turku Castle along the Aura River, explore the scenic Archipelago Sea with its numerous islands, or walk along the lively Aura Riverfront, filled with cafes and paths for strolling. Visiting these sites gives insight into the local culture, environment, and everyday routines, providing travelers with authentic experiences.

The launch of the Turku to Bucharest route not only diversifies travel options at a regional airport but also strengthens ties between northern and southeastern Europe. Establishing direct connections makes travel simpler for both quick getaways and extended visits. For travelers this means wider opportunities and more flexibility, while for the region it underlines the importance of Turku Airport as a growing gateway to European destinations.
