Cyprus and Lebanon Get a Ferry Link
A new scheduled ferry service between Lebanon and Cyprus is expected to start on 9 June 2026, restoring a regular passenger sea link after decades without one. The route will be operated by Lebanese shipping company Abou Merhi Agency through Cedar Waves. Its main service will connect Jounieh in Lebanon with Larnaca in Cyprus in just under four hours.
Jounieh to Larnaca schedule
Cedar Waves has opened online bookings, with departures planned three times a week:
- Wednesday and Sunday: Jounieh departure at 09:00
- Friday: Jounieh departure at 10:00
- Arrival in Larnaca: shortly before 13:00, Beirut time
- Indicative one-way fares: €88 Standard, €144 Plus and €163 Lounge
The ferry network is also expected to include Latakia in Syria and Mersin in Turkey, adding wider sea links in the Eastern Mediterranean. Fares to Turkey are listed at roughly €153 to €255, while Syria fares range from about €125 to €139, depending on the date. The Cyprus fares are lower than earlier estimates of around €230 to €320.
The new link gives travellers another way to move between Lebanon and Cyprus during the summer season. Larnaca becomes reachable without flying, while Jounieh offers access to Beirut, the Lebanese coast and nearby mountain areas. The route may also suit people carrying more luggage, visiting family, or turning the crossing itself into part of the trip.
The ferry will not beat a 30-minute flight on speed, but it gives the route a cheaper and more flexible alternative when airfares rise. It also brings back a type of regional travel that has been missing for years. If the service runs reliably, Cyprus and Lebanon could feel less like separate air-only trips and more like neighbouring Mediterranean stops.
