Croatia Airlines has resumed direct flights between Zagreb and Bucharest, operating three times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Operations commenced in early July and are planned to last until the end of October 2025. Flights use the recently added Airbus A220 planes that have been introduced to the airline’s fleet to improve regional links across Central and Southeastern Europe.

The renewed route is part of a wider initiative to improve short-haul travel within Europe. This direct connection offers several benefits for travelers:

  • Flight duration under two hours
  • Suitable for both leisure and business trips
  • Efficient alternative to lengthy and less convenient train or bus journeys
  • Simplifies travel planning and reduces overall journey time

Visitors arriving in Bucharest have convenient access to several well-known nearby attractions. Among these is Therme București, recognized as one of Europe’s largest wellness centers. Additionally, there is Snagov Monastery, situated on an island and thought to be the final resting place of Vlad the Impaler. Those who appreciate the outdoors will find hiking and cycling paths as well as diverse wetlands at Comana Natural Park.

In Croatia visitors landing in Zagreb can quickly access some of the country’s most attractive spots. Plitvice Lakes National Park is well known for its bright blue lakes and scenic waterfalls. The town of Samobor is popular for its traditional pastry called kremšnita and its historic town center. Jarun Lake located in the city is a favorite place for swimming, water sports and outdoor activities.

The return of this air connection offers travelers a chance to explore more flexible travel routes across Eastern and Central Europe. This facilitates simpler weekend trips and border crossings without lengthy travel times. For independent tourists and regional travelers this route opens up access to destinations that were harder to reach with limited transportation options before. This highlights a rising tendency for tourists to seek out less familiar destinations beyond the main tourist spots.
