Jet2.com has launched two new nonstop routes from Newcastle Airport, giving travelers direct access to Budapest and Marrakesh. The inaugural flights took off in early October 2025, marking the beginning of twice-weekly operations on both routes. Flights to Budapest operate every Thursday and Sunday, while flights to Marrakech operate every Tuesday and Friday. These routes enhance Newcastle Airport's winter schedule, creating better connections between Northern England, Central Europe, and North Africa.

Since ticket sales began earlier this year, both routes have attracted significant interest from travelers. The new services are part of Newcastle Airport's ongoing efforts to add more routes and give travelers direct access to more places. This development underscores the steady recovery of regional aviation, with airlines ramping up and expanding operations to meet rising demand for international journeys.

“We are delighted that Jet2.com has further strengthened its commitment to Newcastle Airport with the launch of new routes to Budapest and Marrakech. These new services provide our passengers with even more choice and reflect the growing demand for connectivity from the North East to destinations across the world."
Leon McQuaid, Director of Aviation Development at Newcastle Airport

Visitors to Budapest can discover a city renowned for its stunning architecture and deep cultural heritage. Some of the most important places to see are Buda Castle, the Hungarian Parliament, and the Chain Bridge, which connects the two historic parts of the city. The city’s well-known thermal baths and lively winter markets attract crowds of visitors, especially during the colder months when festivals and open-air skating rinks fill the streets with energy.

Marrakesh, in contrast, opens the way to Morocco’s lively cities and vast desert horizons. People know the city for its winding streets, busy markets, and famous sights like the Bahia Palace and the Majorelle Garden. Travelers can browse local artisan markets, taste authentic Moroccan cuisine, and admire architecture shaped by centuries of cultural influence. This new route provides travelers with a direct connection between the northeast of England and the cultural center of North Africa.

The introduction of these flights reflects current changes in the regional air transport market. For Newcastle Airport, this is a step towards restoring international air services after several years of fluctuating demand. For travelers, the new connections to Budapest and Marrakesh provide easier access to cultural and leisure hotspots, showing how regional airports are evolving to meet shifting travel trends across Europe and beyond.
