British Airways is preparing a major update to its Airbus A380 aircraft that will introduce the largest business class cabin currently planned on a passenger jet. Newly leaked seat plans reveal that the refurbished aircraft will include 110 Club World seats. The redesign forms part of the airline’s wider programme to upgrade cabins across its long-haul fleet in the coming years.

Work on refurbishing the A380 fleet is expected to begin in the second quarter of the year. Once complete, passengers will find the airline’s Club Suite seats installed throughout the business cabin. These suites include a sliding privacy door, a seat that converts into a 200-centimetre bed and a 47-centimetre touchscreen for in-flight entertainment, alongside additional storage space and direct aisle access.

British Airways’ updated A380 layout will also change the balance of cabins across the aircraft.

Planned cabin layout on the refitted A380

  • 12 First class suites
  • 110 Club World business class seats
  • 84 premium economy seats
  • 215 economy seats

The increase in premium seating means the aircraft will carry fewer passengers overall compared with the current layout.

British Airways mainly uses its A380 aircraft on long-haul routes linking London Heathrow with cities such as Los Angeles, Miami, Boston and Johannesburg. With more business class seats available, travellers flying on these routes may find a wider choice of premium seats, particularly during busy periods when business cabins often sell out early.

The A380 refurbishment is part of a wider cabin update at British Airways. The airline plans to introduce a new First class seat in 2026 with a larger screen and more space. The design will also include a dining option that allows two passengers to eat together in one suite. These changes come as airlines add more premium seating on long-haul aircraft.
