British Airways changed its ID card rules: How it will work

British Airways has changed its ID policy, requiring UK citizens from the age of 16 to carry a photo ID on domestic flights throughout England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Until then, the airline did not require any identification documents when travelling domestically. That is, if you're carrying hand luggage only and flying BA from London to Edinburgh, Manchester to Cardiff, or even Dublin to Swansea, you don't need to prove your identity with documents. But this is a thing of the past, Daily Star writes.

Starting September 1, anyone aged 16 or older will have to provide a photo ID when travelling within the UK whether it's within the same country or from England to Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland and vice versa.

Accepted forms of ID include a passport, driving license (or provisional license) or EU national identity card. Many other airlines have already insisted on requiring identification for domestic flights, so now BA finally implemented this change.
