Birmingham Gets Direct Gambia Winter Sun
TUI will launch direct flights between Birmingham Airport and Banjul in The Gambia this winter, adding a new warm-weather option for Midlands holidaymakers. The weekly Monday service starts on 2 November 2026 and will take around six hours. Package holidays start at £800 per person, including flights, accommodation, transfers, luggage and all-inclusive food and drink.
The new route adds Birmingham to TUI’s existing Gambia departures at London Gatwick and Manchester. The operator says The Gambia is gaining interest among British holidaymakers looking for winter sun without much longer journey times. The service gives passengers in the Midlands a direct route to West Africa’s Atlantic coast during the colder months.
Birmingham–Banjul Details
TUI’s new Gambia programme includes:
- Start date: 2 November 2026
- Frequency: once weekly
- Flight day: Monday
- Flight time: around six hours
- Packages: from £800 per person
- Included: flights, hotel, transfers, luggage and all-inclusive meals and drinks
The Gambia is known for warm winter weather, with temperatures around 30°C between November and April.
The route makes beach holidays easier for people who want winter heat without travelling as far as the Caribbean or Thailand. Banjul gives access to The Gambia’s Atlantic beaches, nature reserves, river trips and resort areas around the Senegambia Strip, where bars, restaurants and live music create a lively evening scene.
This is a useful addition for Birmingham because winter sun routes work best when they are simple. A direct six-hour flight, bundled holiday pricing and all-inclusive stays make The Gambia easier to compare with more familiar long-haul escapes. The destination still needs a little more awareness among casual holidaymakers, but the value angle is clear.
