BA Launches Free Starlink Wi-Fi on First Houston Flight
British Airways has introduced Starlink Wi-Fi on a flight to Houston, becoming the first UK airline to offer fast, free internet in the air. The service debuted on a Boeing 787-8, marking a step in the airline’s broader upgrade plans. Passengers in all cabins can now use high-speed internet throughout the flight, with no extra charges or limits.
Low-Earth orbit satellites keep the connection stable, even on long-haul flights. Speeds can reach up to 500 Mbps, so streaming, working or staying in touch is possible without constant dropouts. The airline says the service works from take-off to landing and supports several devices at once.
British Airways is already fitting the technology across its 787-8 fleet, with a wider rollout planned. Within two years, more than 300 aircraft are expected to be equipped with Starlink, making the service standard across the airline. The upgrade will be available in every cabin, removing the usual gap between premium and economy connectivity options.
