Alicante Stays on the Map for German Travelers This Winter
Ryanair has announced it will continue operating direct flights from Paderborn Lippstadt Airport to Alicante during the winter season of 2025 2026. This route first started in spring 2023 and has steadily become a favorite among travelers. Starting from October flights will be scheduled twice weekly on Mondays at 17:25 and Fridays at 09:55. Tickets are accessible via online platforms and travel agencies allowing passengers to plan their trips well in advance.
The route has attracted interest not only from residents of East Westphalia, South Westphalia and the Lippe region but also from neighboring parts of Germany and Europe. Ryanair flights on this connection have often been nearly full which reflects a consistent demand for direct travel options from a regional airport. With winter flights continuing, travelers have more options beyond the big hubs, making it easier for many to reach Spain.
Travelers can visit Santa Bárbara Castle located on Mount Benacantil in Alicante. At the fortress, you’ll get panoramic sights of the Mediterranean and a glimpse into the city’s past during medieval times. They can also walk along the Explanada de España, a famous promenade decorated with colorful mosaic tiles and lined with palm trees. Barrio de Santa Cruz, known for its tight streets and historic homes, is particularly pleasant to visit when the winter months bring a peaceful calm.
Outside Alicante, the Costa Blanca region features picturesque towns such as Altea, known for its cobbled streets and whitewashed buildings. Jávea offers stunning cliffs and sandy beaches like Playa del Arenal, perfect for nature lovers and hikers. Inland, Guadalest stands out as a favored spot thanks to San José Castle, the Micro-Gigantic Museum, and panoramic mountain views, providing visitors a quiet retreat from coastal crowds.
The decision to maintain winter flights from Paderborn benefits not only local residents but travelers from across Europe who seek flexible travel options outside peak periods. It highlights the growing importance of regional airports in connecting European travelers directly to popular destinations. Even in the colder months, flight connectivity keeps the Mediterranean within easy reach, offering travellers more flexibility to enjoy its culture and climate beyond the summer rush.
