Air Serbia has launched a new direct route between Belgrade and Santorini, marking the airline’s latest addition to its summer network. The inaugural flight, JU558/9, arrived on the Greek island with a ceremonial welcome at Santorini Airport. The service will operate twice a week during the summer season, offering connections on Thursdays and Sundays.

The new route links Serbia directly with one of Greece’s most visited islands. Flights are scheduled to suit both short breaks and longer holidays, with timings that allow for extended weekends. The launch reflects continued demand for Mediterranean destinations during the warmer months, particularly among travellers looking for coastal escapes with straightforward access.

Santorini becomes Air Serbia’s eighth destination in Greece, joining Athens, Thessaloniki, Rhodes, Corfu, Chania, Heraklion and Mykonos. The airline says the addition follows strong interest in Greek island travel. Known for its whitewashed buildings, sea views and volcanic landscape, Santorini remains one of the most recognisable locations in the region.

What the new route makes easier

  • Short breaks with direct flights from Belgrade
  • Access to Santorini without connections
  • Flexible travel across peak summer weekends
  • Easier planning for island-focused trips

The direct flight cuts out the need to change planes in larger hubs and saves time on the way. It also makes short trips easier to plan, including weekend stays that are less practical with connections. Less time is spent getting there, which matters in summer when flights fill up and connections don’t always line up.
