Air New Zealand is gearing up for a busy July school holiday period, with 760,000 customers expected to travel domestically and internationally. The airline has responded to the high demand by adding 30,000 extra seats across 240 domestic flights. The busiest travel day is anticipated to be Friday, 12 July, when over 51,000 customers are expected to fly.

To manage the increased travel, Air New Zealand has made significant preparations. Chief Operating Officer Alex Marren highlighted the addition of thousands of seats to help connect travelers across the country. From 5 July to 21 July, nearly half a million customers will be traveling on the airline’s domestic network.

This surge in travel will also impact airports, prompting the airline to advise passengers to arrive early, especially those traveling with children or extra winter gear. Marren also emphasized the importance of downloading the Air New Zealand app for real-time flight updates and recommended purchasing travel insurance due to potential weather disruptions.

Queenstown tops the list of popular destinations, with 31,000 customers expected. Dunedin will also see a spike in visitors as the All Blacks face England on 6 July, prompting Air New Zealand to add nine additional return flights, providing 2,250 extra seats.

Internationally, 274,000 travelers will be heading overseas. The most popular destinations are Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, with Singapore and Fiji also drawing significant numbers of holidaymakers.

Travelers are advised to double-check personal details on bookings, allow extra time for airport procedures, and ensure they have travel insurance to cover any disruptions. With these measures, Air New Zealand aims to ensure a smooth travel experience during the bustling holiday period.
