A bison attacked a car with a tourist at Yellowstone Park. The incident occurred during the animal's mating season, known as the rut, which lasts from June to September.

The video of the incident was shared by the user @TouronsOfYellowstone on his Instagram page, which usually highlights examples of bad behavior in US national parks. In addition, this account publishes reports of close encounters with wild animals that show hostility to people without provocation, Yahoo Life reported.

It is noted that in the video, the animal is bending the upper lip and sticking out his tongue. Such actions of the male indicate his probable attempt to catch the scent of a female nearby, which is why they can be especially aggressive at this time.

At the same time, the National Park Service (NPS) advises park visitors to maintain safety rules when observing animals and stay in a specially designated area. In addition, it is forbidden to create a traffic jam for bison, pull over to the side of the road, or get out of the car to take pictures of the animal.

The National Park Service recommends staying at least 25 yards (23 metres) away from the animals at all times and notes that bison have injured more people in Yellowstone than any other animal, including snakes and bears.
